Yellow finch has been trying to get into my house the past few days?

to the bird that wierd structure in front of him isn't a house. it's just a thing to land on and stake a territory on.. i doubt he for some reason wants in, it's probably just a good spot to find females/lay eggs (if it's a male or female)
