Question about my Ball Python, please read! Very important!!!?

I got a new Ball Python he's no bigger then a 1' and a half. He's real shy.. like If I put my hand in the cage he moves a lot. I gave him two days to get use to his cage, and today I put a frozen, thawed, fuzzy mouse in his face, he took it. I left the room, he ate it. Theres really no lump... is this enough? How often do I feed him??
