Symbolism in Fahrenheit 451?

I know that this book is full of it, but for some reason I'm not understanding some of the ideas the people and things represent. Could someone please give me a couple examples from throughout the novel? I was wondering specifically what Clarisse McLellan represented (because I'm sure there's something) and what the symbolic nature of the books are. Any more examples would be helpful. :)
